(Park)ing Day 2010 is here

It might be harder than usual to find a parking spot today.  But that might be a good thing.

Today marks (Park)ing day 2010, “an annual, worldwide event that inspires city dwellers everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks for the public good,” according to organizers.

People in a 140 cities around the world will be participating in “user-generated urbanism” or, to put it in less wonky terms, reclaiming some public space and turning concrete into a green play zone for at least a little bit.

So time to get your sod, flower pots, musical instruments, and good spirits and head down to your nearest and newest city “park”–by bike or foot or bus, of course.
